Content: Writing of numbers 0-5 four, 4 basic shapes and colours.

 Theme:   Trees

Instructional objectives: By the end of the lesson the pupils should be able to:

  1. Identify and count numbers 1-10 placed on the apple tree
  2. Write numbers 0-5
  3. Identify four (4) basic shapes and colours

Instructional Techniques: Repetition and explanation, play way method, question and answers.

Instructional materials: Numbers chart, tree chart, flash card, colour chart.

Entry Behaviour:  The pupils can count numbers rhyme to arouse their interest

Instructional procedure:

Periods I and II: Counting and identification of numbers 1-10

The teacher uses tree chart to count numbers 1-10 repeatedly and also write it on the board. Thus

Evaluation:

The teacher ask the pupils the following question

1.   Count  numbers 1-10

2.   Identify numbers 1-10 from the tree numbers chart

3.   Write numbers 0-5

 

Conclusion:

The teacher corrects and commend them positively

 

 

PERIODS III AND IV: Four basic shapes.

The teacher revises oral counting of numbers 1-10

The teacher displays a cut out of four basic shapes: circle, rectangle and triangle, she also mentions their names

 

3.

She draws the shapes on the board and mention their names repeatedly 

 


Evaluation:

The teacher asks the pupils to do the following

1.   Mention the four 4 basic shapes

2.   Touch and identify the four basic shape

 

Conclusion:

The teacher corrects  and commends them

 

 

 

PERIOD V: Colours – green, red, yellow and brown

The teacher reviews the four basic shapes

The teacher introduces the colour by using objects that has the natural colour, red, yellow, green and brown

The teacher displays the shapes that has those colours

The teacher ask the pupils the following question

1.Mention and identify these colours; red yellow, green and brown

2. Colour the four basic shapes as specified

 

Conclusion:

The teacher commends them positively.
