International Economic Cooperation

FESTAC means Festival of Arts and Culture. It was held in Lagos from the 12th-15th of January 1977

The festival was attended by thousands of people from 56 countries of the world

AIMS OF FESTAC

  1. to ensure the revival and propagation of Black and African values, cultures and civilization
  2. To promote black and African artists, performers and writers and facilitate their world acceptance and their access to world outlets
  3. To promote better international and interracial understanding
  4. To facilitate a periodic return to origin in Africa by black artists, writers and performers uprooted to other continents.

 

ACHIEVEMENTS OF FESTAC

  1. it gave birth to the iconic building, the National Theatre, in Lagos
  2. FESTAC helped to enhance conflict resolution and peace building through African traditional method
  3. FESTAC promoted unity among world comity of nations
  4. FESTAC pooled the world to a global film of world peace through cultural renaissance or through music and dance
