NOTE

PRACTICAL WORK ON KNITTING

The basic steps involved in knitting each of these items:

  1. Caps (Beanies)

   - Choose your yarn and needles according to the desired size and warmth of the cap.

   - Cast on stitches to create the brim of the cap.

   - Work in the desired stitch pattern (such as ribbing or stockinette stitch) until the cap reaches the desired length.

   - Decrease stitches gradually at the crown of the cap to close it off.

   - Finish by weaving in loose ends and sewing any seams if necessary.

  1. Cardigans

   - Begin by knitting the back panel of the cardigan, starting from the bottom edge and working upward to the desired length.

   - Knit the front panels separately, making sure to include any necessary shaping for the neckline and armholes.

   - Knit the sleeves, either separately or by picking up stitches along the armhole edges.

   - Seam the front, back, and sleeves together, and add any desired button bands, collars, or edgings.

   - Finish by weaving in loose ends and adding buttons or closures.

  1. Socks:

   - Start by knitting the cuff of the sock, usually in a ribbed or textured pattern for stretchiness.

   - Knit the leg of the sock to the desired length, incorporating any desired stitch patterns or colorwork.

   - Work the heel flap and turn the heel to create the heel cup.

   - Knit the foot of the sock to the desired length, ensuring proper shaping for the toe.

   - Finish by grafting the toe closed using Kitchener stitch or by binding off and sewing the toe seam.

  1. Towel

   - Choose a sturdy, absorbent yarn suitable for towels.

   - Cast on stitches to create the width of the towel.

   - Work in a simple stitch pattern such as garter stitch or seed stitch for the body of the towel.

   - Knit until the towel reaches the desired length, considering the shrinkage that may occur when washing.

   - Finish by binding off stitches and weaving in loose ends.

  1. Table Cover:

   - Determine the dimensions of the table cover and choose a suitable yarn and stitch pattern.

   - Cast on stitches to create the width of the table cover.

   - Work in a stitch pattern that provides stability and durability, such as stockinette stitch, linen stitch, or a dense cable pattern.

   - Knit until the table cover reaches the desired length, considering any desired edging or border.

   - Finish by binding off stitches, blocking if necessary, and weaving in loose ends.
