NOTE

SELF ESTEEM

Self-esteem is how we value and perceive ourselves. It's based on our opinions and beliefs about ourselves, which can feel difficult to change. We might also think of this as self-confidence.

 

TYPES OF SELF ESTEEM

  1. Low self-esteem- This is when someone lacks confidence about who they are and what they can do.

CHARACTERISTICS OF PEOPLE WITH LOW SELF ESTEEM

  1. saying negative things and being critical about self.
  2. joking self in a negative way.
  3. focusing on negatives and ignoring achievements.
  4. blaming self when things go wrong.
  5. thinking other people are better than one’s self.
  6. thinking one doesn't deserve to have fun.
  7. High self-esteem: This is when an individual have confidence about who they are and what they can do.

CHARACTERISTICS OF PEOPLE WITH HIGH SELF ESTEEM

  1. saying positive things about self
  2. Respects and loves himself and others
  3. can cope and face challenges
  4. can make decisions based on what is right and what others counsels
  5. are proud of their achievements and skills

 

HOW TO IMPROVE ONE’S SELF-ESTEEM

  1. Accept yourself as you are
  2. Identify your strengths and weaknesses
  3. identify your core values and behave accordingly
  4. set realistic goals
  5. make it a point of duty to reward yourself after achieving a goal
  6. develop your abilities and never hesitate to be proud of yourself
  7. Cultivate positive relationships
  8. Accept compliments and accolades
