CULTISM

Cultism is a secret organized association or group devoted to ungodly and anti-social activities

Some common examples in Nigeria are

  1. pyrates confraternity
  2. Black cross
  3. Amazons
  4. black axe
  5. Buccanneers
  6. aiye
  7. eiye
  8. vikings confraternity etc

 

CAUSES OF CULTISM

  1. Peer influence
  2. Evil desire for money and power
  3. a quest for safety and security
  4. unstable family backgrounds
  5. exposure to negative foreign values
  6. drug abuse
  7. poor leadership
  8. Injustice and marginalization

 

CONSEQUENCES OF CULTISM

  1. Breakdown of law and order in the society
  2. destruction of properties
  3. untimely death and maiming of the members of the cult group by other factions
  4. bullying and abuse of the fundamental human rights of others.
  5. criminal tendencies
  6. moral decadence
  7. expulsion for those involved
  8. Veneral diseases and infections

 

PUNISHMENT FOR CULTISM

Anyone found to be a member of a cult group is liable to 21years imprisonment. Same punishment applies to those who attend meetings of a cult group.
