SECURITY AGENCIES
A security agency is a governmental organization that conducts intelligence activities for the internal security of a nation.

FUNCTIONS OF THE SECURITY AGENCIES IN NIGERIA

  1. THE MILITARY

The military consists of the Army, Navy and Air force. They are together called The Armed Forces.

Functions of the military

  1. defending the country against external enemies
  2. maintaining security within the territory and borders of the country
  3. regulates and controls every form of insurgency and terrorism within the country
  4. THE NIGERIA POLICE FORCE

Functions of the Nigeria Police

  1. protecting lives and properties
  2. curbing criminal activities by detecting, investigating and persecuting criminals
  3. NIGERIA SECURITY AND CIVIL DEFENCE CORPS(NSCDC)

Their functions include

  1. protects lives and properties
  2. It has power to arrest with warrant or without warrant, detain, investigate and institute legal proceedings against any person who is reasonably suspected to have committed an offence
