FAMILY LIFE EDUCATION

Family life education is a form of education which emphasizes on the

importance of family life and how it can be sustained.

PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES OF FAMILY LIFE EDUCATION

  1. to enable individuals understand the importance of family as the basic

social group in society

  1. to enable individuals know and appreciate different types of marriages,

family structure and life cycle of the family

  1. to enable individuals understand matters relating to sexual relationship,

courtship, marriage, fertility regulation, family planning and child-bearing

age bracket

  1. to enable individuals appreciate the value of, and relationship between a

small family size and the quality of life of individuals, family and the nation

as against the consequences of large family size

  1. to equip individuals with knowledge and skills necessary in coping with

changing roles and demands in life, and developing positive attitudes

towards their responsibilities in the family

  1. to help families fulfill development tasks at different stages of the family

life cycle, adjust to changes and cope effectively with stress.
