Air transport

1.   Book(v): to reserve a seat on a plane

2.   Obtain a single or return ticket from an airline’s booking clerk

3.   Collect a boarding pass

4.   Check in/weigh/tag luggage

5.   Screen luggage with an electronic device

6.   Stamp a passport

7.   Listen to flight announcements by the air hostess

8.   Usher passengers into the cabin(area for passengers)

9.   Locate your seat number on the plane

10.                Stow your hand luggage in the luggage rack/locket

11.                Fasten your seat belt

12.                Planes taxi down the runway(a hard surface along which aircraft take off and land)

13.                A plane is airborne(when it is in the air)

Sea transport

1.   Paddle(v): a canoe across a stretch of water

2.   A speedboat is moved by an electric motor

3.   You can travel by ship or luxury cruise liner

4.   Merchant or cargo ships transport goods from one port to another

5.   A ship docks(v)(arrives at the dock(n) = an enclosed area in the port where ships load and unload)

6.   Dockers unload a cargo ship

Road transport

1.   A car is also called an automobile

2.   Taxi drivers ply tarred roads looking for passengers

3.   There are many roundabouts in the city

4.   There is a heavy traffic jam(hold-up) in Lagos on weekdays

5.   Commuters are left stranded(unable to leave because of lack of transport or money) at the bus-stop

6.   There is a T-junction(intersection) in front of our school

7.   Some pedestrians were injured in a road accident

8.   The police asked my uncle for his vehicle particulars and driver’s license
