NOTE

FOREST RESOURCES AND THEIR USES

The following are some resources gotten from the forest and their uses

  1. Wood pulp- it is used for making paper and newsprint.
  2. Industrial raw materials- this includes dyes, resins, gums, tannies etc
  3. Timber- it is used as a raw material in construction and furniture
  4. Food- wild fruits, vegetables, animal flesh (bush meat or games) are supplied which nourishes the body.
  5. Medicines- the roots, stems, leaves, bark, flower etc are used in treating people.

The benefits of forest and its resources are

  1. It provides opportunities for teaching and research in the natural, physical and agricultural sciences
  2. it can attract employment opportunities for foresters, forest guards, game wardens, wildlife and game managers
  3. Forests are natural habitat to wild animals
  4. It attracts patronage from tourists, naturalists etc. They act as recreational centres or reserve for people who love and admire wild animals
