DEFINITION OF SOME TERMS

TORT

Tort law is the name given to a body of laws that creates and provides remedies for civil wrongs that do not arise out of contractual duties.

 

NEGLIGENCE

Negligence is a conduct culpable because it falls short of what a reasonable person would do to protect another individual from a  foreseeable risk or harm.

CAUSES OF NEGLIGENCE

  1. poor selection of activities
  2. failure to instruct students in an activity
  3. incorrect matching of students with equipment
  4. failure to supervise class
  5. hazardous condition of building and equipment

WAYS TO AVOID NEGLIGENCE

  1. clear all obstacles from the facility
  2. inspect all equipment before use
  3. instruct all students on safety measures regularly
  4. remove defective or faulty equipment
  5. have periodic examination of students
  6. encourage correct uniforms when participating

 

ASSAULTS

This is an unlawful attack upon another.

What can be regarded as assault in sports?
