NOTE

GUIDELINES FOR FISH FARMING

  1. Good water quality should be maintained
  2. the right species of fries and fingerlings should be stocked
  3. The right supplement of feed should be applied
  4. The pond should be conditioned by correcting the acidic level of the soil inside it
  5. organic and inorganic fertilizers should be applied to the bottom of the pond
  6. Have a good knowledge of pond management
  7. the pond should be close to a good water source
  8. the topography of the site should be flat or slightly undulating
  9. the best time to stock selected fish fingerling species is either late in the afternoon, early in the evening or early morning
  10. To stock the pond, lower the bucket or bowl containing the fingerlings into the pond water and tilting to one side to allow the fingerlings swim out of the container
  11. As soon as the culture period begins, the fish pond manager should use his/her skill to aim at avoiding anything that will bring about diseases conditions to the fish and produce more fish per unit water surface area
