NOTE

GOOD FISHING METHODS

  1. Use of nets: this is the most efficient fishing method because a net can catch a lot of fishes both small and large.
  2. Hook and line: In this method, the materials used are hook, rope, twine the sinker which is a very heavy object that ensures that the hook stays below the water, the rod to which the line is attached and the bait which attracts the fish
  3. Fish traps: They are usually woven from bamboo, cane, raffle, oil palm, or coconut palm fronds or even wire mesh.
  4. Fence: it involves making stick fences across a shallow stream, river or lake so that when the water current is high, it will push fish inside the fenced area
  5. Fishing without equipment: This is the use of hands to catch especially aquatic animals like snails, oysters, periwinkles etc from their natural abode or habitats

 

BAD FISHING METHODS

  1. Use of poison: It can endanger human lives
  2. Use of explosives
  3. Draining of water
  4. Electric stunning: It involves passing an electric current into the water thereby stunning fishes which swim by
