NOTE

OTHER TYPES OF AQUATIC ORGANISMS

  1. VERTEBRATES: These are aquatic organisms with back bones. They include

       a. amphibians- they are animals that can live both on land and in water e.g frogs and toads

       b. Reptiles- they are cold-blooded animals. They can’t maintain a constant body temperature. They have to lay out in the sun to heat up their body e.g crocodiles and turtles

       c. Mammals- they are warm blooded animals that milk their young ones and may have fur or hairs e.g whales, dolphins, seals, hippopotamus etc

 

  1. INVERTEBRATES: these are aquatic organisms without back bones. They include

       a. Crustaceans: They are closely related to spider, insects and scorpions. They have hard outer skin and jointed legs e.g crabs, shrimps, crayfish, lobsters, oysters etc

       b. Molluscs: this group includes snails, periwinkles, squid, octopus etc

EVALUATION:    1. Discuss classes of other aquatic organisms, giving examples
