NOTE

FARM ANIMAL DISEASES

A disease is defined as any abnormality in the function of the tissue, organ or system of the animal or plant body.

VIRUS DISEASE

Virus is a microscopic organism that can replicate only inside the cells of a host organism. Most viruses are so tiny that they can only be observed through an optical microscope. People who specialize in viral study are called VIROLOGIST.

Some examples of viral diseases include foot and mouth disease, rinder pest disease, Newcastle disease, foot rot, swine fever, fowl pox, bird flu etc

 

MODE OF TRANSMISSION

  1. direct contact with material contaminated with discharge lesions
  2. use of infected materials airborne and direct contact
  3. insect vectors

 

 SYMPTOMS OF VIRAL DISEASES

  1. salivation
  2. sores on feet and inside mouth
  3. lameness
  4. high fever
  5. diarrhea
  6. twisted neck
  7. poor appetite
  8. yellow eruption on comb
  9. nasal discharge
  10. decreased egg production
  11. breathing difficulty
  12. gasping and coughing
