NOTE

FARM ANIMAL DISEASES

A disease is defined as any abnormality in the function of the tissue, organ or system of the animal or plant body.

BACTERIA DISEASE

Bacteria are tiny or microscopic single-celled micro-organisms that exist in millions. Scientists who specialize in bacteria are called bacteriologists.

Some examples of bacteria diseases include anthrax, brucellosis, tuberculosis, pneumonia, Gastro enteritis etc

MODE OF TRANSMISSION

  1. water and food contaminated with blood
  2. food and water contaminated by discharge and aborted foetus
  3. directly or indirectly from infected animals
  4. from dirty floors, milkers’ hands through injuries on udder and teats
  5. through animals exposed to unfavourable weather conditions
  6. digestive tract

 

 SYMPTOMS OF BACTERIA DISEASE

  1. poor appetite
  2. sudden death with blood oozing from the nose
  3. incidence of abortion during 7th to 9th month of pregnancy
  4. loss of weight and poor food utilization
  5. swelling of joints
  6. cough and labored breathing
  7. increase in temperature
  8. diarrhea
  9. wart-like pimples
  10. skin lesions
