A compound word is formed when two or more individual words are combined to create a new word with a unique meaning. The combined word can function as a noun, verb, or adjective and takes on a different meaning than the individual words.

Types of Compound Words:

1.   Closed Compound Words: The words are written together without spaces.

2.   Hyphenated Compound Words: The words are connected with a hyphen.

3.   Open Compound Words: The words are written separately but function together as one.
