EXPLICIT INSTRUCTION/TEACHER MODELLING

The teacher guides the learners in writing in opposition of the debate topic, “Girls education should end in the kitchen”

Good day Mr Chairman, Panel of Judges, Ladies and gentlemen. My name is Ajeyomi Adejoke. I strongly oppose the motion that says, “Girls education should end in the kitchen”. Limiting a girl's education to domestic skills undermines her potential and restricts her from exploring broader opportunities.

Firstly, education is a fundamental right for all, regardless of gender. It equips girls with knowledge, skills, and confidence to pursue careers in fields such as science, medicine, engineering, and leadership. By limiting girls to the kitchen, we deprive society of their valuable contributions and prevent them from reaching their full potential.

Secondly, the world is changing rapidly, and girls deserve an education that prepares them for the challenges of the modern workforce. While cooking is an important life skill, it should not define a girl's education. Girls should be free to pursue their dreams and ambitions beyond traditional roles.

Moreover, gender equality means breaking away from stereotypes. Education empowers girls to challenge outdated norms and take on roles in governance, business, and innovation. A girl educated only in the kitchen is denied the chance to influence the world around her.

In conclusion, girls' education should not end in the kitchen. Instead, it should open doors to limitless opportunities, ensuring that girls can shape their futures and contribute meaningfully to society.
