SHIFTING CULTIVATION

This is the system of which agriculture in which the farmer grows crops on a piece of land for two or more years and moves to another area as to allow the land to fallow for some years.

 

Advantages of shifting cultivation

  1. it helps to check the spread of insects and diseases
  2. it preserves soil fertility

 

Disadvantages of shifting cultivation

  1. it requires a lot of land
  2. a lot of time and energy is wasted
