NOTE

FARM ANIMAL DISEASES

A disease is defined as any abnormality in the function of the tissue, organ or system of the animal or plant body.

PROTOZOAN DISEASE

Protozoans are non-phototrophic unicellular eukaryotic organism that possess membrane bound organelles and nucleus micro-organisms without cell walls.

Some examples of protozoan diseases include trypanosomiasis, coccidiosis, heart water etc

 

MODE OF TRANSMISSION

  1. tse tse fly on cattle, sheep and goats
  2. blood sucking arthropods
  3. faeces, bird litter, feed, contaminated water and soil

 

SYMPTOMS OF FUNGAL DISEASES

  1. sleepiness
  2. high fever and temperature
  3. weakness and lack of vigour
  4. swelling over legs
  5. bloody faeces
  6. emaciation
  7. paleness
  8. ruffled feathers
  9. convulsions and turning in circles
