NOTE
TRIANGLES
A triangle is a geometric shape with three sides, three vertices, and three angles. The sum of the interior angles of a triangle always equals 180 degrees. Triangles can be classified based on their side lengths and angle measures into various types, such as equilateral, isosceles, and scalene triangles.
Parts of a triangle
A triangle has three main parts: vertices (corners), sides, and angles. The vertices are the points where the sides meet, and the sides are the line segments connecting the vertices. The angles are formed by the intersection of two sides.
Types of triangle
Based on their side lengths, triangles can be classified as follows:
1. Equilateral Triangle: An equilateral triangle is a triangle in which all three sides are of equal length, and consequently, all three angles are of equal measure, each measuring 60 degrees.
2. Isosceles Triangle: An isosceles triangle is a triangle that has at least two sides of equal length. Consequently, the angles opposite those equal sides are also equal.
3. Scalene Triangle: A scalene triangle is a triangle in which all three sides have different lengths. Additionally, the angles in a scalene triangle can have different measures.
4. Right angle Triangle: A right-angled triangle is a triangle that has one angle measuring exactly 90 degrees. The side opposite the right angle is called the hypotenuse, and the other two sides are the legs of the triangle.
EVALUATION: 1. What is a triangle?
CLASSWORK: As in evaluation
