Week 7 |
The teacher revises the previous lesson and introduces the new topic by describing how the /h/ sound is pronounced.
/h/ When you say /h/, the air coming from your lungs is passed out with force which causes a slight hissing sound because the air does not pass freely. The type of hissing sound made is mainly determined by the position the tongue takes in readiness for the pronunciation of the following vowel sound. In English, the sound /h/ only occurs at the beginning of a syllable and before a vowel. /h/ is produced without a vibration. |
