NOTE

ACCIDENT AND INJURIES

An accident is an unplanned sudden occurrence that results to injury, damage to property or death.

 

CLASSES OF ACCIDENTS

  1. domestic(home) accidents
  2. occupational or vocational accidents
  3. traffic accidents
  4. school accidents

 

CAUSES OF ACCIDENTS

  1. Carelessness
  2. Emotional factors
  3. Lack of skills while performing an activity
  4. An unsafe physical environment
  5. Lack of supervision and poor leadership
  6. Fatigue and weakness
  7. Faulty machines, equipment and gadgets
  8. Lack of knowledge and ignorance
  9. Improper attitudes and habits

 

SAFETY MEASURES

AT HOME

  1. do not throw banana peels or waste on the floor
  2. Naked wires should be properly covered to prevent electrocution
  3. Wet or slippery floors should be properly cleaned
  4. Dustbins should have a proper lid
  5. All electrical appliance should be put off when not in use
  6. The rooms should be properly ventilated
  7. Drugs and other harmful substances should be kept out of the reach of children

 

SCHOOL/PLAYGROUND

  1. There should be sufficient toilet facility
  2. Suitable and attractive furniture should be provided
  3. continued monitoring and supervision should be done by trained personnel
  4. first aid box and a sick bay should be provided
  5. fire extinguishers should be provided and functional
  6. Laboratory use by students should be supervised by the trained teachers

 

ROAD

  1. high way should be maintained
  2. there should be public awareness about drivers education
  3. cars and vehicles shouldn’t be on the road if their faulty
  4. the traffic light and laws should be obeyed and observed
  5. Safety personnel should penalize those who break the traffic laws
  6. Drunk driving should be avoided
  7. Overspeeding should be prohibited
