Features of Literature

1.   Literature is imaginative: this is the ability to form pictures or ideas in one’s mind. You make use of imagination as you write or read literary works

2.   Literature deals with life experiences. In fact, many refer to is as “a mirror of life”. Through literature we learn about people’s life experiences- their joys, challenges, culture, character, strengths and weaknesses

3.   Use of words in a powerful way: the language of poetry is rich in the use of figurative language and images. This helps to create vivid pictures in the mind of the reader
