MARRIAGE

Marriage is the formal union of a man and woman by which they become

husband and wife

 TYPES OF MARRIAGE

  1. court marriage: Also known as ordinance marriage, it is administered by

the Registrar of marriages in a law court. It allows for a man to marry only

one wife and vice versa

 

  1. Christian Marriage: Also known as Holy Matrimony, it is conducted by

the priest/pastor in the church. It allows for a man to marry only one wife

and vice versa

 

  1. Islamic marriage: Also know as Muslim matrimony, it is conducted by the

Imam at the mosque or the living compound of the bride. It allows for one

man to marry more than one wife but must not exceed four wives.

 

  1. Traditional marriage: it is carried out according to the laws, customs,

traditions, beliefs, practices and cultures of a people.

 

PURPOSE OF MARRIAGE

CONDITIONS FOR MARRIAGE RELATIONSHIPS
