DRAMATIC AND RHYTHMICAL ACTIVITIES
Rhythmical activities are movements that are performed according to a beat. These activities are usually accompanied by body movements and music e.g singing, clapping, whistling etc
TYPES OF RHYTHMICAL ACTIVITIES
1. Fundamental Rhythm: activities under this group make use of movements like walking, sliding, running, hopping, galloping, skipping, jumping, spinning etc. these activities are locomotor movement
Others are non-locomotor movements such as standing, lying, sitting, pulling, pushing etc
the following rules are observed when marching
This involves imitating the movement of animals or anything as expected form the music provided e.g I remember when I was a soldier(with this one is expected to march like a soldier), Fire on the mountain(here it is expected that where there is fire on the mountain people will run for their lives) etc. Other singing games are row row row your boat, who will be my friend, the thread follows the needle, do as I do etc
OBJECTIVES OF RHYTHMIC ACTIVITIES
GYMNASTICS AND AEROBICS
Gymnastics is the performance of systematic exercises—often with the use of rings, bars, and other apparatus—either as a competitive sport or to improve strength, agility, coordination, and physical conditioning.
Aerobics is a system of physical conditioning involving exercises (as running, walking, swimming, or calisthenics) strenuously performed so as to cause marked temporary increase in respiration and heart rate.
