INTRODUCTION

The teacher revises the previous lesson and introduces the new topic by discussing how the future continuous tense is used

We use the future continuous tense when we want to say that two actions will take place in the future where it is expected that the second action will interrupt the first action.

First, you express the interrupted action in the future continuous tense by using shall/will with the simple future tense of the verb. The second or any subsequent actions are always expressed in the simple present tense

Examples

1.   The woman will be sleeping when her husband arrives

2.   David will be studying for his examination when we visit him at his school

3.   We shall be having dinner when the visitors arrive

EXPLICIT INSTRUCTION/TEACHER MODELLING

The teacher further explains how the future continuous tense is formed

We form the future continuous tense by combining shall/will with the verb be in addition to -ing(progressive) of the main verb.

If the subject is i/we, we use ‘shall’, if the subject is he/she/it/you/they we use ‘will’.
