NOTE

FOLLOWERSHIP

Followership means the ability of a person or group of persons to willingly follow a leader, accept his or her command and authority over them in order to achieve set goals.

 

TYPES OF FOLLOWERSHIP

  1. Aggressive followership: in this followership, followers are very much conscious and aware of the activities of the group, show deep interest and concern but reacts to issues and situations either with violence or peaceful confrontation and protest
  2. Active followership: it is where the followers are very mush conscious and aware of the activities of the group, show deep interest and concern ad actually participate in the activities of the group to the fullest
  3. Passive followership: it is a type of followership where the followers are shallow-minded. They are not aware or conscious of the activities of the group.

 

QUALITIES OF A GOOD FOLLOWER

  1. loyal
  2. obedient
  3. committed to the group goals
  4. Respects the leader
  5. willing to accept responsibility or task
  6. discipline
  7. resourceful and reasonable contributions to the group
  8. honest and trustworthy

 

FUNCTIONS OF A GOOD FOLLOWER

  1. to give adequate support and cooperation to the leader
  2. to be actively involved in the activities of the group
  3. to accept good actions and decisions
  4. to obey and perform task according to set directions, objectives and goals of the group
  5. to make useful contributions, criticisms and suggestions to the leader

 

CONSEQUENCES OF GOOD LEADERSHIP AND FOLLOWERSHIP IN A SOCIETY

  1. civil rest or peace
  2. increased economic growth development
  3. good social order
  4. effective use of public resource
  5. probity and discipline among citizens
  6. harmony, peace and orderliness
  7. obedience to rules and regulations
