THE ANANG PEOPLE
The Anang people are primarily located in Akwa Ibom State in southeastern Nigeria. They are mainly found in the southern part of the state, particularly in the towns of Ikot Ekpene, Uyo, and Abak. The Anang territory is characterized by fertile land, rivers, and forests, which support their agricultural practices.
Origin of the Anang People
The Anang people are believed to have originated from the migration of various ethnic groups into the southeastern region of Nigeria. They share a historical connection with the Efik, Ibibio, and Oron people. Oral traditions suggest that the Anang have a rich cultural heritage rooted in ancient kingdoms and trade networks. Their migration was likely motivated by the search for fertile land and access to resources.
