Week 1 |
The teacher revises the previous lesson and introduces the new topic by explaining what a Literature is Literature is the expression of one’s mind or feelings.
The teacher further discusses the two broad aspects of literature
The aspects of literature are: 1. Oral literature 2. Written literature Literature is as old as ma. Our forefathers enjoyed oral literature through oral prise, poetry and drama. In their homes, at community gatherings, festivals and funerals, they chanted songs and poems; they also narrated folktales, myths and legends to the young ones. Through this means, they were able to pass on important information about their history, culture and values from generation to generation. Oral literature was also a means of recreating themselves after a hard day at work on the farm. They relaxed by telling moonlight tales in the evenings.
The invention of writing made it possible for literature to be preserved in written form. As a result of this, people have been enjoying literary works written many years ago and the recent ones as well. |
