NOTE

INTEGRITY

Integrity can be defined as the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles. Integrity is the virtue of being honest and firm in one's moral principles.

It has to do with the quality of having transparency and sense of moral standard of human relationship.

A man of integrity is a man who is not corrupt, such a man will not, for the sake of money or any other advantages do what he knows to be wrong.

A student who has integrity can/will choose not to cheat in examination, even when he knows he will not be caught. He will choose not to tell lies even when no one will discover he is telling a lie.

ATTRIBUTES OF INTEGRITY

  1. Transparency: Is the act of being open in communication and accountability. A transparent person is always willing to follow due process in his or her daily dealings.
  2. Honesty: This is the quality of being truthful, sincere, and straightforward in one's dealing with others. An honest person is one who always tell the truth, doesn't cheat, deceive, steal, or hide virtual facts from the people that needs them.
  3. Contentment: This means the ability to be satisfied with what one has at a given period of time. It is the feeling of happiness and satisfaction with whatever one possesses, whether small or big. He is not into competition with his peers but moves at his own space.
  4. Truthfulness: this refers to the ability or quality of a person to be real or sincere in his dealings with the members of the society. A truthful person does not tell lies but will always tell the truth or give the correct report concerning any situation
  5. Non-compromise: This is the quality of being stand by principles and ensure strict adherence to rules. To not compromise is to hold on to a standard without being influenced.
  6. Fairplay: This is the quality of being just and honest in one's dealing with others. It is the fact acting honestly in accordance with the rules and regulations of society. A fair minded person is honest in his acts and actions and does things in an honourable manner and according to the laid down rules.
  7. Forthrightness: This is a non compromise principle, it shows an act of being principled. A forthright man cannot be easily influenced with money or material objects. He cannot succumb to pressure or threat to do the wrong thing or compromise on what is against his belief or societal values or norms.
