Kinds of questions

1.   Yes/No questions: It usually starts with an auxiliary verb e.g am, is, are, was, were, will etc.

Examples of Yes/no questions

a.   Is it raining?

b.   Are they coming?

c.   Will he follow them?

2.   Wh-questions: They are questions that begin with wh-words: who, what, when, where etc. They use the same word order as Yes/No questions only that the wh-word is put before the auxiliary verb.

Examples

a.   Is she going? Yes/No questions

Where is she going?

Wh-questions

b.   Are they going? Yes/No questions

Why are they going?

Wh-questions

c.   Does she teach English?

Yes/No questions

When does she teach English?
