SAFETY

Safety means a condition of being free from risk of injury, danger or loss

NEED FOR SAFETY IN OUR ENVIRONMENT

  1. to safeguard lives and properties
  2. for progress in life
  3. to avoid physical and environmental risks
  4. to preserve environmental beauty
  5. to reduce health-related risks

 

SAFETY MEASURES

AT HOME

  1. floors should be kept clean and dry
  2. unwanted furniture should be disposed or properly stored
  3. windows should be protected with iron bars to prevent children from

falling off

  1. everyone should have a flash light in case there is a need to get up at

night

  1. staircase should have hand rails for proper grip
  2. refuse cans should have lids and should be disposed regularly
  3. Sharp objects, chemicals and drugs should be kept out of the reach of

children

  1. electrical appliances with naked wires should not be used

 

IN THE SCHOOL

  1. adequate and qualified staff members should be employed
  2. chemicals should be locked away from children
  3. regular inspection should be carried out to prevent environmental

hazards

  1. first aid should be provided
  2. convenience should be provided
  3. water facilities should be provided
  4. there should be constant and regular sanitation
  5. An emergency plan should be in place just in case
  6. school rules and regulations should be posted where staffs and pupils

can see them

IN THE WORKPLACE

  1. provide first aid kit/boxes
  2. wear protective gears
  3. provide fire extinguishers
  4. there should be marked off places and storage rooms for chemicals and

other harmful materials used for work

  1. Working tools and equipment should be kept clean and properly serviced

to avoid accidents
