NOTE

DATA PROCESSING CYCLE

Data processing cycle are the stages in the process of processing data to information.

It involves a sequence of steps in which data is processed:

  1. Data Gathering: it is the stage of looking for data to be processed anywhere it is available e.g. record of students’ attendance in the school.
  2. Data Collation: this is a stage where data gathered is brought together e.g. students’ attendance from various schools in a local government is brought together for analysis.
  3. Input Stage: this is the stage where data is fed into the computer for processing.
  4. Processing Stage: it is a stage where the data is processed depending on the information that is wanted as the outcome e.g. number of male and female students in the school.
  5. Storage Stage: this is where the result of the processed data is stored for future used.
  6. Output Stage: this is the stage where the result of the processing is displayed for the users to make use.

ADVANTAGES OF DATA PROCESSING CYCLE

  1. Increase in accuracy
  2. Reduction of errors in data and information
  3. Information can be stored in compress form rather than in volumes of papers that occupies space
  4. Tedious job can be simplified
  5. It improves customer service
  6. It is programmable

EVALUATION:    1. Explain data processing cycle

  1. In sequence, explain each step in the data processing cycle
  2. State three advantages of the data processing cycle

CLASSWORK: As in evaluation

CONCLUSION: The teacher commends the students positively
