NOTE
WOODWORK HAND TOOLS 1
Wood work hand tools are manual tools used for crafting and shaping wood materials in the workshop. These tools are classify into five major categories, these includes: boring tools, holding tools, measuring tools, marking out tools and cutting tools.
Boring Tools
Boring hand tools in woodworking are instruments designed for creating holes or cavities in wood. Common boring hand tools include:
1. Drill: Used to create holes with a rotating bit.
2. Auger: A spiral-shaped tool for drilling larger holes in wood.
3. Brace: A hand tool used with bits to manually drill holes.
4. Chisels: Some chisels, like mortising chisels, are used in conjunction with mallets for more significant material removal.
5. Awl: A pointed tool for marking or starting holes.
Cutting Tools
Woodworking cutting hand tools are instruments designed for the precise and controlled removal of wood material during the crafting process. These tools are essential for shaping, sizing, and refining wood pieces. Common examples include saws, chisels, and planes, each serving a specific purpose in the cutting and shaping of wood.
1. Hand saw: Essential for cutting wood into desired shapes and sizes. Types include handsaws for general cutting, coping saws for intricate curves, and back saws for finer, precision work.
2. Chisels: Used for carving, shaping, and cutting wood. Chisels come in various shapes and sizes, and they are crucial for creating joints, mortises, and intricate details in woodworking.
3. Planes: These tools are employed to smooth and shape wood surfaces. They come in different varieties, such as block planes for smaller surfaces and bench planes for larger areas.
4. Coping Saw: Designed for intricate curved cuts in wood.
