CORRECT SPACING AND PUNCTUATION MARKS

Identification of the Spacing Keys and Punctuation:

  1. Spacing Keys:

   - Spacebar: The largest key on the keyboard, used to create spaces between words and sentences.

  1. Punctuation Marks:

   - Comma (,): Used to indicate a pause or separate elements within a sentence.

   - Period (.), Question Mark (?), Exclamation Mark (!): Used to end sentences and indicate different types of statements or questions.

   - Semicolon (;), Colon (:): Used to connect related clauses or separate items in a list.

Demonstrate Correct Finger Placement on the Spacing Keys

Correct finger placement on the spacing keys, especially the spacebar:

  1. Left Hand:

   - Thumb: Used to press the spacebar.

  1. Right Hand:

   - Thumb: Also used to press the spacebar.

The spacebar is typically pressed with the thumb of either hand while the other fingers remain on the home row or shift accordingly to reach other keys.

Demonstrate the Correct Use of Punctuation Mark Keys

Using punctuation marks correctly involves:

  1. Comma (,): Used to separate items in a list, join independent clauses with a conjunction, or indicate a pause.
  2. Period (.), Question Mark (?), Exclamation Mark (!):

   - Period: Used to end declarative sentences.

   - Question Mark: Used to end interrogative sentences.

   - Exclamation Mark: Used to indicate strong feelings or excitement.

  1. Semicolon (;), Colon (:):

   - Semicolon: Used to connect closely related independent clauses or items in a list when commas are already used.

   - Colon: Used before a list, explanation, or quotation.

Demonstrate Correct Spacing after Punctuation Mark Keys

After typing punctuation marks, especially commas, periods, question marks, exclamation marks, semicolons, and colons:

  1. Space after Comma, Semicolon, and Colon:

   - Always leave a single space after these punctuation marks before continuing with the next word or punctuation.

  1. No Space before Period, Question Mark, and Exclamation Mark:

   - There should be no space before these punctuation marks, as they directly follow the final word of a sentence.

For example:

- Correct: "Hello, how are you?"

- Incorrect: "Hello, how are you?"
