Week 1

The teacher revises the previous lesson and introduces the new topic by differentiating between British English and American English

 

Clear differences between British English and American English

1.   Addition of ‘u’ in words like colour, armour, humour and labour are British English spellings while the American version of the words are color, armor, humor and labor.

2.   British English have the -ise endings(recognise, colonise, organise) while the American English have the -ize endings(recognize, colonize, organize)

3.   While -er ending words such as Center and theater are American English spelling, The British spells it as theatre and Centre.
