INTRODUCTION

The teacher revises the previous lesson and introduces the new topic by explaining what conjunctions are and cites examples.

Conjunctions can be described as words that link together two or three words or phrases in a sentence.

Some common examples of conjunctions are and, because, but, either…or, neither….nor etc

Kinds of conjunctions

1.   Correlative conjunctions: they are used in pairs e.g either…or, neither…nor, though….yet, whether….or, not only….but also, such….as etc

2.   Compound conjunctions: These are group of words used as conjunctions e.g in order that, on condition that, even if, so that, provided that, as though, in as much as etc

3.   Subordinating conjunction: They are used to join clause of unequal rank e.g although, after, till, before, unless, while, than etc
