INTRODUCTION |

Examples of preposition include under, by, with, as from, between etc
Some prepositions are written as two or three words e.g instead of, on top of, out of, in addition to, such as etc |

The teacher further explains the kinds of prepositions citing examples Kinds of prepositions 1. Simple prepositions: They are not formed by any method and common to a language e.g at, out, to, since, by, on, after, via etc 2. Double prepositions: They contain two words e.g from behind, close to, due to, owing to, as regards, exclusive of, inspite of, opposite to, next to, according to etc 3. Compound prepositions: They are formed by prefixing e.g beneath, outside, without, amid, throughout, upon etc 4. Participial preposition: This is when present participles are used as prepositions e.g concerning, pending, regarding, respecting, during etc 5. Phrase preposition: This is when groups of words are used as prepositions e.g in the face of, in justification of, under the pretence of, for the love of, in contradiction with etc |
