NOTE

ROAD SAFETY CLUBS

Road safety club can be defines as a social organization formed for the

purpose of carrying out road safety campaigns within a locality

The aims and objectives of the road safety clubs should be

  1. developing knowledge and understanding of road traffic and signs
  2. equipping people with the behavioural skills involved on the road
  3. instilling a responsibility in people on how to keep themselves safe on

the road

  1. orientation about the causes and consequences of road accidents

 

PROCESSES OF FORMING A ROAD SAFETY CLUB

  1. Write a formal statement of intent to the school authority for the

establishment of a road safety club in the school

  1. an interest meeting is held were the aims, objectives, purpose and goals

of the club are articulated and plans made for the future activities of the

club

  1. a list of the intending members of the club is written down
  2. A full-time staff advisor or patron is engaged for proper guidance
  3. Members of the club write out a constitution or bye laws to guide the

club’s activities

  1. An approval for the club should be sought out from the school authority
  2. Once the school approves, another letter of approval is written to the

Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC)
