INTRODUCTION |
The teacher revises the previous lesson and introduces the new topic by explaining how adverbs are formed Formation of adverbs 1. Adverbs of manner are formed by adding ‘ly’ to the adjective e.g a. Clever – cleverly b. Wise – wisely c. Kind -. Kindly d. Foolish – foolishly e. Quick – quickly f. Beautiful – beautifully 2. When the adjective ends with ‘y’ preceded by a consonant, ‘y’ is changed into ‘I’ and ‘ly’ is added e.g a. happy – happily b. ready – readily c. heavy – heavily 3.
