NOTE

MAKING OF MODELS WITH PAPER FOLDING TECHNIQUE

Paper folding technique, also known as origami, is the art of folding paper to create intricate and often decorative shapes, figures, and objects without the use of cutting or gluing.

Materials and tools for paper folding technique

   Materials:

     - Paper (typically square-shaped, but other shapes can be used)

     - Optional: Decorative paper, foil paper, or patterned paper for added visual interest

   Tools:

     - Scissors (only for cutting square paper into the desired size, if necessary)

     - Bone folder or ruler (for creasing and folding the paper accurately)

     - Optional: Tweezers or paper clips (for holding small folds in place)

Method of making paper folding

  1. Start with a square piece of paper.
  2. Fold the paper according to the specific instructions for the desired shape or figure. Common folds include valley folds (folding the paper inward) and mountain folds (folding the paper outward).
  3. Crease the folds firmly using a bone folder or ruler to ensure crisp edges.
  4. Continue folding and creasing the paper according to the instructions until the desired shape or figure is achieved.
  5. Some advanced origami designs may require intricate folds and multiple steps, so patience and precision are key.

Uses of paper models

  1. Decorative art: Origami models can be displayed as standalone pieces of art or incorporated into larger artworks.
  2. Gifts and greetings: Paper models can be used to create unique and personalized gifts or greeting cards.
  3. Educational purposes: Origami is often used in educational settings to teach geometry, spatial reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
  4. Therapy: Origami has been shown to have therapeutic benefits, such as reducing stress and improving focus and concentration.
