COMMON CRIMES: RAPE AND MURDER

RAPE

Rape is a type of sexual assault usually involving sexual intercourse, which is initiated by one or more persons against another person without that person’s consent. It is any form of unwanted sexual behavior that is forcefully imposed on someone. It is also an unlawful way of compelling a person through physical force or duress to have sexual intercourse.

CAUSES OF RAPE

Rape can be caused by any of the following;

1]Exposure to pornography; constant exposure to nude pictures and watching of blue films lust leading to rape.

2] Peer influence; A person can be influence by his friends who are rapists to develop the habit

3]Movement during odd hours; Girls who walk during odd hours in boys populated areas can fall victim

4] Indecent dressing; Girls who are fond of dressing indecently can be rape eventually

5] Immoral music; bad or obscene lyrics from some musicians can create sexual passion in youths, which could lead to rape

6] Occult activities; sometimes ,rape occurs for occultic reasons particularly a situation where a 60 years old man rapes a two year old girl

7] Lack of self control; some go into rape because they lack the ability to resist and subdue the urge to commit the crime.

Effects of Rape;

  1. psychological trauma
  2. health problems
  3. danger of contracting Hiv/Aids
  4. social stigmatization

 

MURDER

This occurs when one human being unlawfully kills another human being e.g homicide. It is the unlawful killing of one human being by another especially with premeditated malice. It is the intentional killing or the malicious murder of another person e.g. Homicide.

Causes of murder;

1]uncontrolled anger

2]Robbery

4]vengeance

5]politics

6] toxic business deals

7]land tussle

 

Effects of Murder

1]psychological trauma on the family; murder brings sorrow and heart ache to the family of the deceased

2]mental disorder; The partner of a gruesomely murdered person can have problem

3]financial difficulty; If the breadwinner of the family is murdered, life can be harsh and hard financial for the entire family

4]life imprisonment; someone who commits murder could be sentenced to life jail

 

Prevention of Rape and Murder

1]avoid walking in lonely places

2]severe punishment for offenders

3]Enlightenment campaigns for the public

4]Mind who you walk with

5]be watchful at social functions

6] walk away from business dealings with dangerous people or properly report to the respective authorities
