NOTE

CLASSIFICATION OF PLANTS BASED ON THEIR ANATOMY

  1. MONOCOTYLEDONS: these are plants that have only one cotyledon in its seed. The cotyledons store food for the partially decaying seedlings at the early stages of growth and development which will finally drop off as the plant continue to develop e.g maize, guinea corn, grasses etc
  2. DICOTYLEDONS: These are plants that have two cotyledons in its seed e.g legumes, cowpeas, groundnut, melon etc
