Week 9 |
The teacher revises the previous lesson and introduces the new topic by describing how the /ᶛ/ sound is pronounced.
/ᶛ/ When you pronounce the sound /ᶛ/, the front of your tongue is down(low inside the mouth) but the back of the tongue is raised. The mouth is open and the lips are slightly rounded and pushed forward. It is very much like the position for the pronunciation of /a:/ except for the shape of the lips. The jaw is down when you say /ᶛ/

The teacher introduces the new topic by explaining how the /ᵓ:/ sound is pronounced
/ᵓ:/ When you pronounce the /ᵓ:/, the front of the tongue is down(low inside the mouth)-the same position as for the sound /ᶛ/. But the back of your tongue is higher inside your mouth that when you say the sound /ᶛ/. Your mouth is open and your lips are very rounded and pushed forward. Your jaw is down when you say the /ᵓ:/ sound.
