NOTE

PRODUCTION OF COSMETICS AND DEODORANTS

Points to Note in the Choice and Use of Cosmetics and Makeup:

  • Skin Type and Tone: Choose products that are suited to your skin type (oily, dry, sensitive, combination) and match your skin tone. For example, use non-comedogenic products for oily skin and hydrating formulas for dry skin.
  • Ingredients: Be mindful of the ingredients, especially if you have sensitive skin. Avoid harsh chemicals or allergens, and opt for hypoallergenic or dermatologist-tested products.
  • Purpose: Consider the purpose of the product. Are you using makeup for everyday wear, special occasions, or specific functions like coverage or color enhancement?
  • Expiration Dates: Always check the expiration date of cosmetics, especially for products like mascara, foundations, and lipsticks. Using expired makeup can cause skin irritation or infections.
  • Application Tools: Use the right tools for application, such as brushes, sponges, or fingertips. Proper tools ensure a more even and professional-looking application.
  • Patch Testing: Before applying a new product, do a patch test to ensure that you won’t have an allergic reaction, especially for sensitive areas like the eyes and lips.
  • Removal: Always remove makeup thoroughly at the end of the day to prevent clogged pores, breakouts, or skin irritation.

Procedures in the Application of Makeup:

  • Step 1: Cleanse and Moisturize: Start with a clean face. Use a gentle cleanser to remove dirt and makeup. Apply a moisturizer suited to your skin type to hydrate and create a smooth base for makeup.
  • Step 2: Apply Primer: Use a primer to create a smooth surface for makeup application. It helps makeup last longer and minimizes the appearance of pores.
  • Step 3: Apply Foundation: Use foundation to even out the skin tone. Apply it using a brush, sponge, or your fingers, blending it well into your skin. Choose a foundation that matches your skin tone and provides the desired coverage.
  • Step 4: Apply Concealer: Use concealer to cover up blemishes, dark circles, or any imperfections that need extra coverage. Blend it in with your foundation.
  • Step 5: Set with Powder: Apply a setting powder to lock in your foundation and concealer, preventing it from creasing or looking shiny throughout the day.
  • Step 6: Apply Blush, Bronzer, and Highlighter: Use blush to add color to your cheeks, bronzer to add warmth and definition to your face, and highlighter to bring a glow to the high points of your face (cheekbones, brow bones, etc.).
  • Step 7: Eye Makeup: Apply eyeshadow to your eyelids, eyeliner to define your eyes, and mascara to enhance your lashes. You can also define your brows using a pencil or powder.
  • Step 8: Apply Lip Color: Finish with lipstick or lip gloss. Choose a color that complements your makeup look and skin tone.
  • Step 9: Set Makeup: Use a makeup setting spray to lock your makeup in place for the day, ensuring it lasts longer and stays fresh.

Deodorants and Anti-perspirants:

  • Deodorants: Deodorants are products used to mask or eliminate body odor, typically caused by bacteria on the skin's surface. They may contain antimicrobial agents, fragrances, or natural odor-fighting ingredients to keep the skin fresh and odor-free.
  • Anti-perspirants: Anti-perspirants are a type of deodorant that also help reduce perspiration. They contain aluminum-based compounds that temporarily block sweat glands, reducing the amount of sweat released from the body.

Proper Application of Deodorants and Anti-perspirants:

  • Deodorant Application:
    • Step 1: Ensure your skin is clean and dry before application.
    • Step 2: Shake the deodorant (if it’s a spray or roll-on) before use to ensure an even application.
    • Step 3: Hold the deodorant a few inches away from your skin and apply it evenly, focusing on areas prone to odor, like the underarms.
    • Step 4: Allow the deodorant to dry before dressing to avoid stains on clothing.
  • Anti-perspirant Application:
    • Step 1: Apply anti-perspirant to clean, dry skin (preferably at night before bed) to allow the active ingredients to block sweat ducts overnight.
    • Step 2: Shake the product (if using a spray or roll-on) and apply a thin layer to the underarms.
    • Step 3: Let the anti-perspirant dry completely before putting on clothes.
    • Step 4: Avoid applying anti-perspirant immediately after shaving, as it may cause irritation.

EVALUATION:

  1. What are the key factors to consider when choosing cosmetics or makeup products for your skin type and tone?

  3. What is the difference between deodorants and anti-perspirants, and how do each help maintain personal hygiene?
  4. How should deodorants and anti-perspirants be properly applied to ensure effectiveness and avoid irritation?
  5. Why is it important to use the right tools and techniques when applying makeup, and how can improper application affect the overall look?
