NOTE

ACCIDENTS IN THE SCHOOL

Accident can be defined as an unfortunate incident that happens

unexpectedly resulting in damages, injuries or death

TYPES OF ACCIDENT IN THE SCHOOL

  1. falls- it happens due to rough exercises, fighting or improper class

arrangement

  1. Burns- this is damage to the skin due to heat, fires or chemicals
  2. cuts- these are open wounds caused by broken glass or window, sharp

objects like knives cutlasses etc.

  1. Electric shocks- this is injury caused by electric current passing through

the human body

HOW TO PREVENT ACCIDENTS IN THE SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT

  1. remove all dangerous objects
  2. Avoid dangerous instruments
  3. avoid exposed electricity cables/wires
  4. carry out sanitation of the environment regularly
  5. keep chemicals locked away from children

 

BASIC STEPS WHEN ACCIDENTS OCCUR IN THE SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT

  1. assess the situation and remove the victim from further dangers
  2. Accident victim should be taken to the hospital or sick bay
  3. the accident should be reported to the school head teacher for necessary detailed action
  4. parents and guidance of the victim should be informed
  5. the school authority should remove or adequately prevent the cause of

the accident in the school
