NOTE
MEANING, IMPORTANCE AND NEED FOR CIVIC EDUCATION
The word "civic" is a Greek word which means citizen of a city or an area. Civic education is that form of education which is primarily designed and organised in content that functions so as to produce good and useful people, who knows what events happening in the state and the goings on in the country and beyond. The main aim of civic education is the ability to develop and change young people into effective, responsible, good and informed people who are useful in their country.
Civic education teaches knowledge, understanding about politics, the law and economic skills on how to participate effectively and responsibly in public and democratic life.
