WEEK SEVEN

TOPIC: CHRISTIAN ATTITUDE TO WORKS

CONTENT

  • Trust (matt (6:19-20, 24-34, 5: 35-36),
  • Commitment (matt 5:13-14).

TRUST(Matt. 6:19-20, 24-34, 5: 35-36)

Trust is the confidence we have in someone. Therefore as a good Christian our first major task is to trust in God. This is the way; any person who develops the quality of trust in God is secured.  The knowledge that God will take care of his needs just like the psalmist says that those who trust in the Lord are like mountZion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever.

We are warned in (Matt. 6:19) not to lay up for ourselves treasure on earth, because moth can destroy them and thieves can steal them away, but to lay up our treasures in heaven where neither moth nor rust consumes, and where thieves break in and steal not, we are not to put our

trust in wealth or riches, but trust in God.

Trust in God will give us victory over anxiety. This is the only way to experience long life and prosperity. God will definitely supply all your needs if you can patiently trust in Him.

Commitment (Matt 5:13-14).

Commitment to living in the Christian way provides an ideal example for society. To live in the Christian way we should be faithful and trustworthy. We should have faith in God and trust him, believe him and obey his commandments; we should walk upright in his ways. Joshua was committed, he obeyed God’s commandment and led the Israelite to the Promised Land. Commitment entails giving all your time, money, energy and resources in pursuit of a course. It involves leaving many things for one thing, not minding the effects.

Commitment brings success, promotion, joy and preservation of time and resources. For instance, a child sends to school need to be committed to his studies by cultivating good reading habit that will bring good result and joy with promotion; while reverse is the case for any child who fails to be committed to his studies.
