CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

MEANING OF ENVIRONMENT

Environment is the physical physical surrounding we live.

It is everything that is found within the area or society. This includes houses, bridges, churches, mosques, schools, hospitals and markets.

 

IDENTIFY OUR ENVIRONMENT AND ITS FEATURES 

Land – houses, grass, trees, rivers and animals.

River – fishes, crabs, crocodile, etc.

Sky – sun, moon and stars.

 

Let the pupils know that the land, water and sky are made up of our environment. Guide them to identify the features of the land, rivers and sky

 

IDENTIFY THINGS IN OUR IMMEDIATE ENVIRONMENT 

Human – Teachers, pupils, pastors, imams, doctors, police, etc.

Animals – goats, cows, chickens, birds, etc.

Houses – schools, police station, churches, mosques, hospitals, etc.

Road, cars, motorcycle, bicycle, etc.

Carnal, sea, boat, ships, etc.

Trees, crops and grasses.

Colours – red, blue, pink, white, black, etc.

Sky, sun, moon and star

Insects

Etc.

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

Leads pupils out to observe the immediate environment.

Pupil’s Activities – Observe carefully and notice details compounds and their neighbours.

Assists them to show their awareness on what they see around them and what goes on around them.

Pupil’s Activities – Discuss these in class with emphasis on special features of the houses and compounds (colours of the houses).

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
