CONTENT : Use of ‘I’ in sentences

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to;

  1. Using ‘I’ in sentences

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOR : Pupils can use ‘A’ and ‘AN’ in as it applies to words

SET INDUCTION : The teachers uses the three-letter words songs to arouse the interest of the pupils 

 

INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNIQUES : Singing, storytelling, playway, gestures/demonstration,gestures, explanation and repetition 

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS : Flash cards of how ‘I’ can be used in sentences, phonics sound chart, sentence strips showing sentences with I

PERIOD 1 AND 2: Using ‘I’ stand alone in a sentence (why it is pronounced using its name rather than its sound)

PRONOUNCING AND USING ‘I’ IN SENTENCES

The teacher pronounces ‘I’ repeatedly using the letter name rather than the sound

The teacher writes the following sentences using ‘I’ on the board and reads it repeatedly as the pupils responds

1. I can run

2. I am sad

3. I sat on the mat

The pupils listen and participate

EVALUATION

The teacher evaluates the pupils by dictating the sentences using I for the pupils to write it down in their books

2. I am sad

3. I sat on the mat

CLASSWORK

The teacher ask the pupils to write three sentences beginning with ‘I’

The teacher marks, commends and corrects where necessary
